We are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Casual Events Coordinator to join our team and help create memorable events at this iconic waterfront venue.
About the role
As our Events Coordinator, you’ll be involved in the complete event journey — from the first enquiry and venue tour through to planning and finalisation, working closely with our Event Operations team to bring each client’s vision to life.
You’ll build strong relationships with clients, understand their vision and confidently guide them through our event spaces, menus, beverage options and event requirements.
This is a role for someone who loves both the sales and creative side of events, as well as the organisation and attention to detail required behind the scenes to ensure every detail is clearly planned and communicated to our operational teams.
What you’ll be doing

- Conducting venue tours and meeting with prospective clients
- Building strong client relationships from initial enquiry through to event day
- Understanding each client’s vision and recommending the right event format, menus, beverages and inclusions
- Identifying opportunities to maximise event sales through thoughtful upselling
- Coordinating the planning and finalisation of weddings, celebrations, corporate events, conferences and Club events
- Preparing event proposals, function details, run sheets and floorplans
- Communicating all event requirements clearly with our Events Operations, kitchen and management teams
- Working collaboratively with the Events Operations team to ensure each client’s vision and event details are understood
- Ensuring all event details are accurately maintained within Function Tracker
- Monitoring weekly and monthly sales performance and contributing ideas to drive events during quieter periods
- Maintaining event supplies and presentation standards
- Supporting the planning and coordination of larger Club events as required
About you You’re warm, personable and confident, with a natural ability to connect with people and make them feel looked after.
You understand that great events are built on the details. You can take a client’s initial idea,
help them picture what’s possible and then coordinate all the details required to ensure our Events Operations team has everything they need to bring that vision to life.
You’ll ideally bring
- 2+ years’ experience in the role or similar
- Strong sales skills and confidence converting enquiries into bookings
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence meeting clients and conducting venue tours
- The ability to manage multiple events, deadlines and priorities at once
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Experience working collaboratively with Events Operations, kitchen and management teams
- Confidence using event management systems, Microsoft office and Canva
- A current RSA, or willingness to obtain one
Most importantly, you’ll genuinely enjoy creating memorable experiences, building relationships with clients and working collaboratively with our team to bring great events to life. Why join St George Sailing Club?
