About the role

We are looking for a commercially minded Category Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of electrical product categories. Joining a well-established, medium-sized, market leading electrical products company, you will become part of a dynamic category management team in a business that is fast paced, supportive and rewarding. You will work closely with customers, suppliers and teams across Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance and Operations to ensure the portfolio remains competitive, profitable and relevant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop and execute category plans aligned with business priorities, customer needs and market opportunities.
- Manage category performance across sales, gross margin, pricing, rebates and inventory, using commercial data to identify opportunities, risks and actions.
- Manage the full product lifecycle, including range development, pricing, new product introduction, rationalisation and end-of-life.
- Build a strong understanding of customers, applications, competitors and market trends.
- Identify and evaluate new product and range opportunities, preparing sound business cases and commercial recommendations.
- Coordinate new products from concept through sourcing, compliance, pricing, inventory planning and launch, then monitor ongoing performance.
- Provide sales forecasts for new products and support forecast adjustments when market conditions or customer demand change.
- Manage key suppliers, negotiate product costs and trading terms, and monitor quality, service, innovation and supply continuity.




- Partner with Purchasing and Supply Chain to address supply risks and product availability issues.
- Become the internal subject-matter expert for your categories, with strong product, technical and application knowledge.

ABOUT YOU

- Experience in category management, product management or a similar commercial role.
- Experience managing product portfolios throughout the product lifecycle and bringing new products to market.
- Strong commercial and financial literacy across sales growth, gross margin, mark-up, pricing, discounts, rebates and return on investment.
- Highly competent Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and commercial data analysis.
- Highly competent Microsoft PowerPoint skills and the ability to create clear, professional presentations.
- Confidence using Power BI, Salesforce and other business systems, with the ability to learn new digital tools quickly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, supplier management and negotiation skills.
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and project management skills, with clear accountability and follow-through.
- Experience in the Australian electrical market, including relevant products, customers and distribution channels.
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing,



Engineering or a related discipline.
