The Catering Project Melbourne is looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join our team for an immediate start.
This is a casual position offering up to 35 hours per week, with 4:00am starts required.
This role is vital to the success of our Catering Business and can affect the culture of the entire organisation. As Chef de Partie, you will be hands on in preparing breakfast, lunch and event food for our clients, executing the menu and ensuring a high level of performance, guest satisfaction and profitability.
The Chef de Partie will also be responsible for the following duties:
- Comply with standards of service and assist in ensuring the same from all kitchen employees.
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, coordinating food production schedules and ensuring the highest level of food quality, taste and presentation.
- Participate in food preparation and produce food consistently to a high standard of quality, taste and presentation.
- Support food cost control by following appropriate food preparation, handling and waste management practices.
- Consistently adhere to uniform, grooming and appearance standards.
- In conjunction with the Head Chef, Operations Manager and General Manager, support kitchen goals, anticipate and resolve operational issues and contribute to approved cost-saving and profit-oriented initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, sanitation and food handling guidelines.
- Maintain effective communication within the kitchen,
be responsive to staff suggestions and concerns and work to resolve problems.
- Maintain effective working relationships with food and beverage management, staff and other departments.
- Complete daily food orders based on scheduled catering events and projected levels of business.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen, dishwashing and cool room areas and promptly address any deficiencies.
- Attend staff meetings as required and support initiatives discussed at meetings.
- Carry out any other duties as instructed from time to time.
For this position, it is expected that you would possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum Diploma level qualification or higher, such as a Diploma of Hospitality, plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience; or
- At least 3 years of relevant experience within the hospitality industry.
- Availability to work up to 35 hours per week on a casual basis.
- Availability for 4:00am starts.
- Strong food safety knowledge and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced catering and production kitchen workplace.
