Chef – Willunga Hotel

Full-time or high-hours casual | Willunga, South Australia The Willunga Hotel is looking for an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team.

We are a family-owned and operated hotel in the heart of Willunga, with a strong and established food trade, a busy kitchen and a great team of experienced people.

We've owned and operated the hotel for many years. The business continues to grow and we're investing in both the hotel and what we offer our customers.

We're now looking for another good chef to become part of that future.

About the role

This is a hands-on cooking role in a busy country hotel kitchen, working across preparation and service.

Our food is based around valuable quality, generous pub meals done well. We make a lot of what we serve in-house and take pride in consistency, presentation and providing genuine value.

Depending on your experience, the role can also include involvement in:

- menu development and specials
- ordering and purchasing
- food costing and GP control
- stock and waste management
- kitchen systems and procedures
- functions and events
- helping develop and support the rest of the kitchen team

We aren't necessarily looking for someone to come in and change everything. We have a good kitchen operation already. We are looking for someone who can add to it.

Who we're looking for

Ideally, you'll be an experienced qualified chef who is comfortable working in a busy hotel environment.

We're looking for someone who:

- can work confidently across prep and service




- takes pride in putting up consistently good food
- understands portion control, food costs and waste
- works well as part of a small, experienced team
- is organised, reliable and level-headed
- understands the realities of hospitality, including some nights and weekends
- holds, or is prepared to obtain, the appropriate Food Safety Supervisor qualification

Experience with ordering, menu development or managing a kitchen would be an advantage, but we're happy to shape the position around the right person.

For the right person, we're open to either full-time employment or a high-hours casual position, with hours, responsibilities and remuneration discussed according to experience.

The Willunga Hotel is a 158-year-old heritage pub in one of South Australia's great food and wine regions. We have a strong local following as well as significant visitor trade, an extensive beer garden, restaurant, bars and a growing functions and events business.

We're ambitious about where we're taking the hotel, but we're still a family-run country pub at heart.
