Located in the heart of Singleton, Wattaka Café is a 100% Aboriginal-owned social enterprise offering supported employment in hospitality for Indigenous people on NDIS plans. Wattaka Cafe's purpose is to offer the freshest local produce infused with unique Native Australian flavours, whilst providing meaningly employment for our supported employees.

Wattaka Cafe is looking for a Cafe Chef/Cook to join our committed cafe team. We are looking for someone who is experienced in the kitchen and possesses a genuine passion and drive for working in a small team environment.

This role will be a part time position, reporting to the Cafe Chef/Manager. Wattaka Cafe is currently open Monday-Friday 7:30am-2:00pm

What you will be doing;

- Working with the team to provide a safe and supportive environment for our supported employees

- Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment

- Prepare a variety of hot and cold menu items to the highest standards of quality and visual appeal.

- Ensure all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

- Working seamlessly with front of house

- Assist with maintaining stock lists and ordering and receiving of products

- Restocking and maintaining a clean and organised café environment

- Working as a team in the preparation of catering orders





- Working in a team environment and integrating with front of house staff

About You;

- Proven experience in cooking/preparation of cafe meals is a must

- Genuinely "passionate" about the hospitality space! Still enjoys seeing people eat outstanding food!

- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards

- Excellent time management and multitasking skills to work efficiently/effectively in a small team environment

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

- Punctual with attendance

- Has values that align with community & inclusion

Qualifications

- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to complete

- Ability to complete Working with Children Check, Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, NDIS Worker Modules (or willing to obtain)
