The Opportunity

Cleanaway is hiring multiple Chemists to support our Narangba branch. Working alongside operators and technical leaders, you will help ensure waste is sampled, analysed and processed safely while building experience beyond a traditional laboratory environment.

Your accuracy and judgement will be important because waste streams can vary significantly, and the quality of sampling directly affects safe handling and treatment decisions.

- Collect representative samples from liquid and solid waste streams using approved methods and controls
- Perform laboratory and field analysis that supports safe waste acceptance and treatment decisions
- Identify unusual results, compatibility risks and sampling limitations, escalating concerns promptly
- Communicate technical findings clearly to operators, supervisors and site leaders
- The role combines laboratory and field activity and includes working outdoors in active industrial areas. Depending on the task, this may involve protective clothing, respiratory protection and other PPE.
- Support Risk assessment & Work instruction creation and improvement alongside QA/QC activities, equipment checks and accurate technical record keeping

About You You are scientifically trained, safety conscious and motivated by practical problem solving. Whether you are a recent graduate with an IBL year or meaningful industry placement experience, or an early-career industrial Chemist, you will bring practical experience applying chemistry in a real-world operational environment.

- Degree in Chemistry, Applied Science or a closely relevant scientific discipline
- Understanding of hazardous materials, chemical compatibility or regulatory testing principles,



gained through study, placement or industry experience
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to following procedures
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and escalate uncertainty appropriately
- Exposure to waste, environmental, water treatment, mining or related industrial process environments
