Tradewind Australia is recruiting an experienced mental health clinician for a Clinical Lead position with a well-established youth mental health service in Broken Hill. This is a genuine clinical leadership role, but importantly, you won't be stepping completely away from clinical practice.

Around 60% of the role is focused on clinical leadership, supervision and team oversight, with the remaining 40% dedicated to direct clinical work.

You'll support a multidisciplinary team working with young people aged 12-25, provide clinical guidance around complex presentations, contribute to service development and governance, and maintain a small caseload of your own.

You don't need to have worked specifically in youth mental health. Strong mental health experience, sound clinical judgement and the ability to step into a leadership role are what matter most.

This could be a particularly good fit for a Senior Clinician ready to take the next step, an experienced Clinical Supervisor looking for a formal leadership position, or an established Clinical Lead looking for a change of pace and a new regional challenge.

What you'll actually be doing

You'll have a hands-on role in supporting both the clinical team and the young people accessing the service.

Your responsibilities will include

- Providing clinical leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team
- Supporting the day-to-day clinical operations of the service
- Providing clinical guidance and oversight for complex presentations
- Maintaining a small caseload and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions
- Conducting complex assessments and supporting risk and crisis management
- Supporting clinicians with clinical decision-making and case planning
- Developing a culture of clinical excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Contributing to clinical governance, quality and safeguarding requirements
- Building strong relationships with young people, families and carers
- Working collaboratively with GPs, schools, health services and community organisations
- Supporting the development of innovative and responsive youth mental health services

You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes clinicians, peer workers, administration, nursing,



medical and community development professionals, with access to broader specialist support and telepsychiatry.

We're looking for an experienced mental health professional who is confident making clinical decisions, supporting other clinicians and building strong relationships across a multidisciplinary setting.

You'll ideally have

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling or Psychotherapy
- Current professional registration or relevant professional membership, as applicable
- At least 3 years' post-qualification mental health experience
- Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills
- Experience working with complex mental health presentations
- The ability to provide sound clinical judgement and respond appropriately to risk and crisis situations
- Experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring or clinical leadership, or the capability and motivation to step into a leadership role
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, emotionally regulated approach to leadership and clinical practice
- A genuine interest in working with young people and their families

Don't have youth mental health experience?

That's okay. Youth mental health experience is highly regarded, but it isn't essential.

We're open to experienced clinicians from other areas of mental health who have strong transferable skills and are genuinely interested in working with young people and families.

Your background could be in adult mental health, community mental health, hospital settings, private practice, counselling, psychosocial services or another relevant clinical environment.
