Lead Specialist Paediatric Respiratory Care

Join the Paediatric Respiratory Service at John Hunter Children's Hospital, the major tertiary paediatric referral centre for Hunter New England. Our multidisciplinary team provides specialised care for infants, children and adolescents with complex respiratory and upper airway conditions, including asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, chronic lung disease, tracheostomies and complex airway disorders.

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will provide expert clinical consultancy in paediatric asthma, combining advanced clinical practice with leadership, service development and collaborative care. You'll play a key role in improving health outcomes through culturally safe, family-centred care, with a strong commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.

You'll work alongside experienced medical, nursing and allied health professionals to deliver exceptional tertiary paediatric care. We're looking for an experienced paediatric nurse who is passionate about leadership, education and improving outcomes for children living with asthma.

In This Role You'll

- Provide expert clinical leadership in paediatric asthma care
- Mentor and support nursing and multidisciplinary staff
- Lead service improvement, innovation and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Contribute to research, education and the translation of best practice into care
- Deliver outreach services across Hunter New England to improve access for regional communities
- Build strong partnerships with patients, families and healthcare providers

You'll Bring

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (Essential)
- Minimum 5 years' full-time equivalent post-registration experience (Essential)
- Postgraduate qualifications in Paediatric Nursing or Paediatric Asthma Nursing (or working towards)




- Demonstrated expertise in paediatric asthma nursing
- Excellent communication and collaborative leadership skills
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, research and continuous improvement
- The ability to travel throughout Hunter New England for outreach services
