About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is inviting expressions of interest from experienced internal Registered Midwives who are ready to take the next step in their career by transitioning into a Clinical Nurse/ Midwife. This exciting opportunity is offered on a maximum-term, part-time basis (32 hours per week), with an immediate start and a contract running through to May 2027.To be considered for this role, applicants must be available to participate in a 24/7 rotating roster, including morning, afternoon, and night shifts.
Mater Mothers' Private Townsville is part of Queensland's largest maternity service, providing exceptional, family-centred care from preconception through to pregnancy, birth and early motherhood. Our purpose-built maternity unit offers 3 fully equipped birth suites, 12 private postnatal rooms with ensuites and a Special Care Nursery, ensuring the highest standard of care for mothers and babies. Our dedicated multidisciplinary team works closely with obstetricians to deliver personalised, compassionate care and support throughout every family's journey.
With 24/7 access to expert clinical care, modern facilities, and innovative postnatal services, we are committed to creating safe, memorable and positive birth experiences for North Queensland families.
Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you’ll be doing
As a Clinical Nurse at Mater Private Hospital Townsville, your responsibilities will include:
- Provide high-quality patient care using advanced clinical skills.
- Collaborate with patients and caregivers to identify healthcare needs.
- Adhere to documentation standards and coordinate work functions.
- Undertake discharge planning and act as a mentor when required.
- Develop and maintain rosters, support policy implementation.
- Manage labour resources,
allocate resources within budget when required
- Analyse data, promote workplace safety and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in meetings, quality activities, and professional development.
- Accept individual responsibility and adhere to organisational policies
About you We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse who possesses:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Regulation Agency as a Division 1 Registered Midwife.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Registered Nurse in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology speciality.
- Postgraduate tertiary qualifications applicable to healthcare team speciality (desired)
- Advanced clinical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning and coordination abilities in clinical patient care management.
- Ability to work effectively within a collegiate healthcare team structure.
- Familiarity with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
