Join our team of 3,500+ local experts backed by a global network of 16,000 team members and work on projects that truly make a difference for Australia’s leading organisations.
Our Managed Services team ensures businesses operate at peak efficiency, resilience, and scale. Join us to manage and optimise IT landscapes for leading organisations, delivering seamless, reliable, and measurable outcomes every day.
As the cloud lead you will own the overall operational performance of the cloud service (AWS, Azure & M365), including service levels, KPIs, availability, operational risk and continual service improvement.
The Cloud Lead can be based in any Australian Capital City
What you’ll do
- Lead and mentor cloud engineers; set ways of working, technical standards, and development practices.
- Lead cloud governance and ensure compliance with agreed architecture, security, risk, audit and operational standards.
- Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity readiness, including recovery planning, testing and remediation of identified gaps.
- Provide governance over major cloud changes and releases, ensuring production risk is understood and appropriately managed.
- Maintain lifecycle management for cloud platforms and services, including technical debt, currency, obsolescence and platform improvement planning.
- Ensure cloud documentation, operational procedures, runbooks and knowledge artefacts are maintained to an appropriate standard.
- Oversee AWS landing zones, network patterns, identity, and platform guardrails.
- Establish/manage reusable patterns (e.g., VPC, IAM, logging, monitoring, CI/CD).
- Drive Infrastructure as Code practices (e.g. CloudFormation) and automation-first delivery.
- Implement security-by-design controls (IAM, encryption, key management, patching, vulnerability management).
- Own incident response processes for cloud platform services and support post-incident reviews.
- Oversee platform operations, capacity planning, and on-call/production support arrangements.
- Lead problem management and drive root-cause fixes and platform improvements.
- Be responsible for cost management practices: tagging, budgets, forecasting, chargeback/show back.
- Optimise spend via rightsizing, savings plans/reserved instances, and participate in architectural improvements.
- Manage AWS vendor relationship where applicable, including service limits and support cases.
- Partner with Architecture, Security, Networks and Delivery teams to enable secure self-service.
- Provide clear reporting on risks, platform health, delivery progress, and cost.
What we’re looking for
- Deep hands-on AWS experience across core services (e.g., IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch).
- Proven experience with cloud transformation and modernization.
- Strong cloud security knowledge (least privilege, network segmentation, encryption, secrets management).
- Experience transitioning environments from project/migration mode into BAU managed services.
- Experience leading enterprise cloud managed services, not just project delivery.
- Experience managing senior customer stakeholders and executive-level reporting.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing cloud operating models and platform teams.
- Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform/CloudFormation; CI/CD tooling).
- Operational excellence: monitoring, incident management, DR, performance tuning.
- Proven technical leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management.
- Multi-account strategy and landing zone tooling (e.g., AWS Control Tower)
- Kubernetes and container platforms (EKS), service mesh, platform engineering practices.
- Observability tooling beyond native AWS (e.g., Datadog, Splunk).
- Strong commercial awareness, including cloud consumption, forecasting, optimisation and service cost management.
- Experience operating cloud environments under formal governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional (preferred)
- AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer Associate
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- ITIL Foundation Certification
