We're partnering with a quick-growing Sydney fintech lender to find a Collections Officer for their credit team. It's a second-line role looking after a portfolio of loans across their full life, from settlement through to close.
You'll own a portfolio, stay close to customers and brokers, and get ahead of issues early. You'll handle arrears and hardship with genuine care, and manage the small number of files that need recovery.
What you'll be doing:
- Own a portfolio of loans and build real relationships with customers and their brokers
- Get ahead of issues early and help customers find a way through when things change
- Keep accounts serviced correctly and performing to terms
- Monitor key dates like maturity, rate resets and review points, and manage each to the right outcome
- Assist with extensions, variations and restructure requests within policy
- Manage arrears end to end and negotiate practical catch-up arrangements
- Spot signs of hardship or vulnerability early and assess applications fairly
- Keep accurate file notes and reporting so the wider team always has a clear view
- Work within the National Credit Code, ASIC guidance and internal credit and collections policies
What we're looking for:
- Experience in collections, loan servicing, hardship or customer care, ideally in a bank, non-bank lender or fintech
- A warm, empathetic manner, with the ability to hold a firm line and negotiate without losing the customer's trust
- A genuine customer-first mindset and a real desire to help people
- Sound knowledge of the National Credit Code, responsible lending and hardship obligations, or the appetite to learn them fast
- Strong organisation and follow-through
- Explicit written communication and disciplined record-keeping
- Comfortable in a fast-moving fintech where frameworks are still being built
Full time, 4 days in office and 1 day from home, Sydney CBD.
