About the Role
Artisans of Barossa is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team at Essen Restaurant. This hands‑on role is ideal for an emerging chef who is passionate about Barossa produce, eager to learn, and excited by the opportunity to grow within a dynamic, premium hospitality environment.
You’ll work closely with our Head Chef and senior team to prepare high‑quality dishes that celebrate the region’s farmers, producers, and seasonal ingredients. This position includes working on different service styles , giving you exposure to both culinary styles and service environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and cooking of fresh, high‑quality meals
- Work across both the Restaurant and Wine Room weekly
- Uphold strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Demonstrate efficiency and attention to detail during service
- Support the Head Chef with daily operations and mise en place
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture
- Engage with seasonal produce and kitchen garden initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum)
- Food Handling Certificate (required)
- First Aid Certificate (advantageous)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Passion for local produce, Barossa food culture, and wine
- Professional presentation and reliable work ethic
