About the Opportunity

Join the Family and Community Support Program: a unique, placed-based initiative in one of Australia’s most remote and beautiful island communities.

KAA is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced and passionate professionals to join a multidisciplinary team delivering an innovative Commonwealth-funded pilot program on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands for a 12-month period.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a community-led initiative designed to strengthen the wellbeing outcomes for children, young people, families and the broader community.

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands are a remote island community in the Indian Ocean, offering a truly unique living and working experience. This pilot program is focused on:

- Strengthening child, youth and family wellbeing
- Supporting community participation, leadership and capability
- Responding to local needs, stressors and long-term resilience
- Delivering culturally responsive,



trauma-informed services
- Building an integrated, multidisciplinary service model

All roles will work collaboratively within a close-knit team, engaging directly with the community and local stakeholders to co-design and deliver family support, parenting, youth and community development initiatives.

Available roles:

• 3 x Community Development Workers - Full-time, base salary $105,570 - $110,350/annum

- 1 x Team Manager – Full-time, base salary $115,337 - $120,440/annum

All roles will be 12-month, fixed-term contracts with a preference to be 100% based from CKI for the term of the contracts. FIFO arrangements may also be discussed with suitable applicants.

About you

You are passionate about working alongside children, young people, families and communities to create positive and lasting impact. You thrive in diverse, community-focused environments and understand the importance of building trust, respect and genuine partnerships with local people.

To be successful in this program, you will bring:





- You thrive in diverse, community-focused environments and understand the importance of building trust, respect and genuine partnerships with local people.
- You'll have robust experience (ideally 5+ years) working in community, youth, family, education, health, social services or related settings, preferably within rural, remote or culturally diverse communities and a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with community members, local leaders, stakeholders and partner organisations.
- You'll have experience working respectfully with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and the ability to adapt your approach to local cultural, language and community needs (experience with Cocos-Malay culture an advantage).
