The Shire of Mount Magnet is seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Community Development Officer to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity.

This is a diverse, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people, developing ideas and turning them into meaningful community outcomes. From events and community programs to grants, local organisations and stakeholder engagement, no two weeks will look quite the same.

About the Role The Community Development Officer will work closely with community members, local organisations, government agencies and Shire staff to support initiatives that strengthen community connection, participation and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Planning, coordinating and delivering community events, activities and programs;
- Developing initiatives that encourage community participation and connection;
- Building positive relationships with local community groups, clubs, organisations and other stakeholders;
- Identifying grant and funding opportunities and assisting with grant applications, administration and acquittals;
- Supporting local organisations with projects, funding opportunities and Shire processes;
- Coordinating initiatives for youth, seniors, families and other community groups;
- Assisting with the development and implementation of community projects and strategic initiatives;
- Undertaking community consultation and engagement activities;
- Liaising with government agencies, service providers and regional organisations;
- Assisting with the promotion of community events, programs and initiatives through the Shire's communication channels;




- Managing project and program budgets and maintaining accurate records; and
- Providing general support across the Shire's community development activities as required.

About You We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and isn't afraid to get involved. You'll be organised enough to manage budgets, grants and reporting, creative enough to help develop new initiatives, and practical enough to turn plans into action.

The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate:

- Previous experience in community development, events, local government, project coordination, administration or another relevant field;
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
- Experience coordinating events, programs or community-based projects;
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare correspondence, reports and funding applications;
- Sound financial administration and budget management skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of people;
- Confidence engaging with community groups, government agencies, businesses and other stakeholders;
- Initiative,



creativity and a practical approach to problem solving;
- Sound computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications;
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team; and
- A current C Class Driver's Licence.

Previous experience in local government, community development, grant funding or event coordination will be highly regarded but is not essential. Why Join Us?

The Shire offers a competitive employment package including:

- Salary of approximately $80,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience;
- Employer superannuation plus Council matching contributions of up to an additional 5%;
- One rostered day off per month;
- Heavily Subsidised accommodation may be available to the successful applicant;
