The Shire of Mount Magnet is seeking a friendly, motivated and reliable person to join our team as a Customer Service Officer Trainee.

This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining practical workplace experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification. You don't need years of experience – we're looking for someone with a great attitude, good communication skills and a genuine willingness to learn.

About the Role

As the Customer Service Officer Trainee, you'll be one of the first points of contact for the Shire and will learn how to provide professional and friendly service to residents, visitors and customers.

With training and support from our experienced team, you'll gain hands-on experience across customer service and local government administration.

Your role will include:

- Welcoming customers and assisting with enquiries at the Shire Administration Office;
- Answering and directing telephone calls and emails;
- Providing friendly and professional customer service;
- Processing payments, receipting and basic financial transactions;
- Assisting customers with forms, applications and general Shire enquiries;
- Undertaking data entry and maintaining accurate records;
- Assisting with incoming and outgoing correspondence;
- Filing, scanning and electronic document management;
- Learning and using Council's corporate software and systems;
- Assisting with Department of Transport transactions;
- Providing general administrative support across the organisation; and
- Completing the study and workplace requirements of your traineeship.

You'll ideally have:





- A friendly and professional approach to customer service;
- Good verbal and written communication skills;
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems;
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills;
- The ability to work respectfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds;
- A reliable and positive approach to work;
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle information appropriately;
- A willingness to ask questions, learn new skills and take direction;
- The ability to work as part of a team; and
- A commitment to completing the required traineeship qualification.

Previous customer service or administration experience is not essential. Full training and support will be provided.
