Soil Mechanics is a growing privately owned drilling contractor specialising in geotechnical, environmental, and low-impact shallow exploration diamond drilling services.
Headquartered in Canning Vale, we operate across Australia, delivering projects throughout Western Australia, the Northern Territory, South Australia, and beyond.
Driven by continued growth, strong support from our long-term clients, and the expansion of our fleet, we are seeking experienced Diamond Drillers to join our team for an immediate start.
More About the Role:
- Full-time position.
- Perth metro projects on a DIDO 5:2 roster from our Canning Vale base.
- FIFO and DIDO 2:1 or 2:2 rosters available for mine site and regional projects.
What You'll Need:
- Cert III in Drilling Operations
- Minimum MR-B Licence (HR-B or higher preferred)
- White Card (or ability to obtain before commencement)
- National Police Clearance
- First Aid (HLTAID011 & HLTAID009)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including Drug & Alcohol testing
- Physically fit and capable of working 12-hour shifts in varying weather conditions
- Unrestricted Australian working rights
What We're Looking For:
- Motivated professionals who take pride in delivering safe, high-quality outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead drilling operations independently, managing projects from mobilisation through to demobilisation.
- Strong diamond drilling experience in soft and unconsolidated ground conditions.
- Experience across a range of geological settings including sediments, limestone, laterite, iron ore, and hard rock.
- Consistent delivery of quality sample recovery, borehole integrity, and reliable data.
- Sound knowledge of diamond drilling techniques, bore stability, fluid management, and sampling.
- Strong commitment to safety leadership and risk management.
- Ability to mentor and develop Drill Assistants and Trainee Drillers through coaching and leadership.
- Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
- High standards of core presentation, sample handling, and Daily Drill Reporting.
- Experience with in-situ testing, instrumentation and groundwater monitoring highly regarded.
- Exposure to Rotary Mud, Rotary Air, Air Core, Sonic and Direct Push drilling advantageous.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Class 1, 2 or 3 Water Well Licence highly regarded.
