About the role The Allied Health Team are currently seeking expressions of interest for a fixed term chance as the Director of Occupational Therapy. This position is based at our South Brisbane campus in a full-time capacity for up to four months.

The Occupational Therapy Department is part of Allied Health Services and provides a broad range of public and private acute and subacute health services with adults, women’s health, neonatology, children and young adults. Within the department, clinical teams provide a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services across clinical areas and functional teams in response to community need.

The Occupational

Therapy department encompasses approximately 39 FTE, with over 65 staff working across eight teams

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing The Director Occupational Therapy position is responsible for the stewardship and delivery of consistent safe, high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services and the clinical leadership of the Eat Walk Engage program at Mater Health. Strategically and operationally, this position drives departmental performance and the delivery of quality, innovative, value-based health services through leading and building team capability, partnering with consumers and clinical teams to design care and forge a quality improvement and research agenda in line with our Mater Health strategy.

As a member of the Allied Health leadership team,



this position contributes to Allied Health strategic planning as well as its operationalisation and integration across Mater Health.

About you To be successful in this role you will possess;

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
- Registration with AHPRA

Desirable Qualifications
- Post graduate qualifications in business management, health leadership or similar

Skills, knowledge and experience

- Demonstrated experience providing strategic and operational leadership of Occupational Therapy services within a large, complex acute and/or subacute healthcare environment, including the translation of organisational strategy into sustainable service outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional leadership and authoritative advice on Occupational Therapy practice, service development, workforce planning and clinical governance across diverse clinical settings.
- Demonstrated experience leading workforce capability initiatives, including professional standards, supervision frameworks, succession planning, advanced practice development, change management and workforce redesign.
- Demonstrated experience leading and evaluating service improvement, innovation,



research and evidence translation activities that improve consumer outcomes, service effectiveness and value-based care.
- Demonstrated experience in financial stewardship, including budget development and management, resource allocation, activity monitoring and performance optimisation within a complex health service.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret clinical, workforce, operational and financial performance data to inform strategic decision-making, service planning and organisational priorities.
- Demonstrated experience leading clinical governance activities, including quality improvement, risk management, policy development, accreditation requirements, audit programs and compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
- Highly developed communication, advocacy, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes, lead organisational change, resolve complex issues and build collaborative relationships with executive leaders, multidisciplinary teams, consumers and external stakeholders.
