About DaFeng
DaFeng Interior Design & Construction Limited is a Taiwan-based interior design and construction firm with 16 years of experience, built on “Accountable by Design” — treating every design as a binding commitment delivered with precision, transparency, and disciplined project management. We are expanding into Queensland to serve Taiwanese and Asian brands entering Australia, alongside rising demand in hospitality, retail, and residential fit-outs across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Sunnybank.
The Role
We’re seeking a Director of Interior Design with strong technical delivery credentials to lead our Queensland studio — someone equally comfortable interpreting a client brief, producing construction-ready documentation, and holding contractors accountable on site. This role combines design leadership with hands-on project delivery, ideal for a qualified who bridges architecture, interior design, and construction coordination.
Core Responsibilities
● Assist DaFeng Interior Design & Construction Limited in establishing its Australian business operation, including engaging local subcontractors, suppliers, and trades in Queensland.
● Support company set-up activities as directed by Da Feng’s overseas leadership, including premises, compliance, and operational readiness.
● Act as the on-ground representative for Da Feng’s design and delivery capability while the Australian entity is established.
● Consult with clients and stakeholders to determine design objectives, functional requirements, and project constraints.
● Develop space planning, interior layouts, and design concepts for commercial, hospitality, and residential fit-outs.
● Produce and review construction documentation, integrating MEP, fire-protection,
and HVAC requirements to ensure code compliance.
● Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and site activities to maintain constructability, quality, and program.
● Select materials, finishes, and furnishings that align with client brand identity and project budget.
● Prepare cost estimates, progress valuations, and client-facing quotations.
● Use AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit to communicate design intent to clients and delivery teams; produce renderings and 3D visualisations for concept approval.
● Oversee project close-out, handover, and final account processes.
Commercial Leadership Responsibilities
● Establish and manage relationships with local subcontractors, suppliers, and trades in Queensland.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for Taiwanese and Asian brand clients entering the Australian market.
● Support studio operations, quoting strategy, and client acquisition under company leadership.
What We’re Looking For
● Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related built-environment discipline.
● Minimum 5 years’ experience in interior design and fit-out delivery, including construction documentation and site coordination.
● Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit; rendering/visualisation software (Lumion, Enscape, or V-Ray) highly regarded.
● Demonstrated experience coordinating MEP, fire, and HVAC interfaces with multidisciplinary teams.
● Working proficiency in English (verbal and written) for client-facing and regulatory communication.
● Experience working with or for Asian-market clients or brands highly regarded.
Salary: AUD $150,000–$190,000 base, commensurate with experience, plus performance-linked incentives.
