EdenCare Support Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate and reliable High Intensity Disability Female Support Worker to join a small and consistent support team assisting a woman in her late 50s living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS).

This is an ongoing role for someone who wants more than occasional support shifts. We are looking for a worker who can become a trusted and familiar member of the participant's regular team, learn her routines and preferences, and provide consistent, respectful and high-quality support.

The participant is warm, intelligent and engaging. She values independence, dignity, meaningful conversation, consistency and connection with the people supporting her.

Due to the progressive nature of MND, this is a physically demanding and high-intensity support role requiring previous experience with complex disability or health-care needs.

About the Role The participant requires 2:1 support for personal and daily activities involving;

- PEG Support: currently receiving nutrition orally but has a PEG requiring regular flushing and care. Her PEG requirements may change as her condition progresses.
- BiPAP / Ventilation Support: currently uses BiPAP/ventilation for respiratory support. Staff assist with applying and removing equipment, positioning, equipment care and monitoring her presentation.
- Hoist & Manual Handling: requires hoist-assisted transfers and significant physical assistance. Some transfers and personal-care activities require two support workers working together.
- Personal Care: the role involves full assistance with showering, toileting, dressing, grooming, continence care and other intimate personal-care tasks.

Participant-specific training and competency refreshers will be provided where required. Workers will only undertake high-intensity tasks once appropriately trained and assessed as competent. Workers are expected to follow the participant's individual support and clinical plans and to recognise when something is different from her normal presentation. You are not expected to make independent clinical decisions or work outside your scope. Appropriate concerns must be escalated according to the participant's care plan and EdenCare procedures.

We are looking for someone who can provide excellent high-intensity support while still remembering that the participant is a person living her life within her family home.

- Encouraging independence and choice
- Helping the participant remain involved in decisions about her day

The successful worker should be comfortable spending extended periods one-to-one with the participant and understand how to help without taking away her independence or control. Because you will be working in a private family home, discretion, professional boundaries and respect for the family's privacy are essential.

Essential Experience

Applicants must have previous experience supporting people with complex physical disability, high-intensity support needs or significant personal-care requirements.

Strong applicants should have hands-on experience with several of the following:

- Complex Manual Handling: Hoists and sling application, two-person transfers
- Personal Care: Showering and toileting
- Continence support
- Feeding assistance
- Ventilation / Respiratory support
- PEG care
- Progressive neurological conditions

This position is not suited to applicants whose disability experience has mainly involved community access, companionship or domestic assistance without complex personal care. Qualifications & Compliance

Applicants should hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain where appropriate:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- National Police Check
- Current First Aid
- Current CPR
- Infection prevention and control training
- Valid Australian driver's licence
- Australian working rights

Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III/IV Individual Support or Disability, Enrolled Nursing, Registered Nursing,



Allied Health or other health-care qualifications will be highly regarded.
