Tarra Care Disability Services is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and reliable Female Disability Support Worker to provide one-on-one support for an NDIS participant located in Drouin, Victoria.
About the Role
We are looking for a support worker with extensive experience supporting individuals with complex mental health presentations. The successful applicant will provide person-centred support while maintaining professional boundaries, promoting participant wellbeing, safety, and independence.
This role requires a calm, confident, and trauma-informed approach, with the ability to manage challenging situations professionally and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistance with personal care and self-care activities
- Supporting daily living tasks and household routines
- Assisting with meal preparation and maintaining a safe home setting
- Providing transport and support to medical, allied health, and other appointments
- Community access and social participation support
- Emotional support and positive engagement
- Following support plans and risk management strategies
- Monitoring wellbeing and reporting concerns appropriately
- Promoting participant choice, control, and independence
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- National Police Check
- Victorian Driver's Licence
- Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance
- Reliable and registered vehicle
- Working with Children Check (preferred)
- Australian working rights
Essential Experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex mental health conditions
- Experience managing challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- Understanding of participant safeguarding and duty of care requirements
Desired Skills
- Trauma-informed support experience
- Mental Health First Aid (desirable)
- Experience working within the NDIS sector
- Knowledge of risk management and behaviour support strategies
- Confidence supporting participants in the community and home environment
