About the role

Disability Support Workers deliver high‑quality, person‑centred, rights‑based supports that promote independence, safety, skill development, community participation and quality of life for NDIS participants.

Support

Workers provide direct assistance with daily living, social engagement, routines, communication needs, community access, and enabling environments. They ensure practice aligns with human rights, dignity of risk, trauma‑informed and neuroaffirming approaches, while upholding participant preferences and maintaining professional boundaries at all times.

Key responsibilities

- Support participants with personal care, routines, household tasks, meal preparation, and community activities
- Promote independence using graded assistance, prompting, modelling and cooperative problem‑solving
- Implement proactive strategies, teaching programs, communication supports, sensory strategies and environmental adjustments as described in the Behaviour Support Plan
- Provide safe and supported access to community, social, recreational and skill‑building activities
- Complete accurate, objective, same‑day notes using approved systems
- Record incidents, near misses, health concerns, behavioural changes or risks immediately
- Follow WHS, infection control, medication and mealtime procedures
- Identify and escalate risks, deterioration,



environmental hazards, safeguarding concerns, or signs of abuse/neglect
- Communicate respectfully using participant‑preferred methods and work collaboratively with families, support coordinators, clinicians and team members
- Maintain professional boundaries, reliability, punctuality and ethical practice

About you

- NDIS Worker Screening Check (mandatory)
- Working With Children Check / Blue Card (QLD) (mandatory)
- Current First Aid & CPR (mandatory)
- Valid driver's licence if transport is part of the role (mandatory)
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module plus internal mandatory training (mandatory)
- Competency in Behaviour Support Plan implementation and restrictive practices requirements if applicable (mandatory)
- Experience working alongside people with disability, mental health needs, complex communication needs or behaviours of concern (preferred)
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, Individual Support, Education Support or similar (preferred)
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Shifts are available 7 days per week, overnights, sleepovers - even if you only have specific times available, consider applying!
