About the role

We are seeking an experienced and well-connected Domestic Meat Trader to drive our national business across the Manufacturing and Food Service sectors. In this high-impact role, you will leverage your deep market knowledge and established trade network to manage key account relationships, identify arbitrage opportunities, and grow market share. You will manage the end-to-end trading process—from sourcing raw materials to delivering tailored protein solutions to national food service distributors, processors, and industrial manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

- Manage daily buy/sell trading activities across multi-species categories (Beef, Pork, Lamb, Poultry) to maximize margin and market opportunities.
- Maintain and expand long-term relationships with major national food service distributors, commercial caterers, and food manufacturing/further-processing clients.
- Work closely with internal procurement, logistics, and livestock teams to align product availability with customer specifications and delivery timelines.
- Monitor price movements, livestock availability, seasonal trends, and supply shifts across the Australian domestic market to inform strategy and client advice.
- Mitigate margin risk through accurate position reporting, forward contract management, and rigorous credit control.

About you

- Minimum 5+ years of success in domestic meat trading within Australia,



specifically targeting food service and food manufacturing sectors.
- An existing, active network of domestic manufacturing and food service client contacts across Australia.
- In-depth understanding of red meat cuts, yields, trim specifications, grinding materials, and processing capabilities.
- Outstanding negotiation skills, numerical agility, and a strong track record of managing profitable trading books.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly with both high-volume industrial buyers and key operational stakeholders.
