About the opportunity
Sydney Met is seeking an experienced Domestic Student Recruitment Manager to lead the development and implementation of its domestic student recruitment strategy and support sustainable enrolment growth.
Working closely with Sydney Met’s leadership, academic departments and professional staff, you will develop recruitment initiatives, strengthen external partnerships, identify market opportunities and enhance Sydney Met’s visibility within the Australian higher education sector.
This part-time role combines strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, business development and hands-on recruitment activities. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced higher education professional who can work independently, provide strategic advice and build sustainable domestic student pipelines.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive domestic student recruitment strategy aligned with Sydney Met’s strategic objectives and enrolment targets.
- Identify opportunities to increase domestic student awareness, enquiries, applications and enrolments.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, student preferences and emerging recruitment opportunities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with high schools, TAFEs, pathway providers, careers advisers and other education partners.
- Identify and develop new referral arrangements, recruitment partnerships and student pathway opportunities.
- Represent Sydney Met at school visits, careers expos, information sessions,
open days and other recruitment events.
- Develop and support targeted recruitment campaigns, outreach activities and communications for domestic audiences.
- Provide advice on UAC processes, domestic admissions pathways and factors influencing prospective students’ decisions.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions and Academic teams to improve the prospective student journey and application-to-enrolment conversion.
- Monitor recruitment performance and provide management with timely reports, market insights and evidence-based recommendations.
- Ensure recruitment activities comply with applicable regulatory, legislative and organisational requirements.
About you
You are an experienced higher education professional with a solid understanding of Australia’s domestic student recruitment environment. You are confident working strategically and independently and have demonstrated success in developing partnerships, recruitment pipelines and enrolment-growth initiatives.
Essential requirements
- A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in domestic student recruitment, admissions, business development, outreach or a related function within the Australian higher education sector.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian domestic higher education market.
- Demonstrated understanding of UAC admissions processes and domestic student pathways.
- Experience developing and implementing student recruitment strategies.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with schools, TAFEs, pathway providers, careers advisers and other external stakeholders.
- Strong business development, negotiation and partnership-management capabilities.
- Sound understanding of the domestic student journey, from initial enquiry to application, admission and enrolment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organisational and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes with limited supervision.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- Availability to work on campus for 2–3 days per week and attend occasional after-hours or weekend recruitment activities.
Desirable experience
- Established networks across the Sydney and NSW education sectors.
- Knowledge of FEE-HELP requirements and processes.
- Experience in student conversion, pipeline development and enrolment growth.
- Understanding of the Australian higher education regulatory and quality environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional development in higher education, recruitment, admissions, marketing or business development.
- Experience delivering domestic recruitment campaigns, school outreach programs, careers expos, open days and information sessions.
