As our delivery footprint continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior F5 Network Security Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting complex enterprise environments.

The Role
n We are seeking a highly experienced Senior F5 Network Security Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, optimisation, and operational support of enterprise F5 application delivery and security platforms.

n

This is a hands‐on engineering role requiring deep expertise across F5 BIG-IP technologies, application delivery networking, load balancing, web application security, and network infrastructure. You will act as the primary F5 Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting large-scale production environments and providing technical leadership across operational support, project delivery, platform engineering, and security initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, network engineers, security teams, application owners, and stakeholders to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable application delivery services across the organisation.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

- Act as the primary F5 Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting enterprise F5 infrastructure environments.
n
- Design, implement, configure, and maintain F5 application delivery and security platforms.
n
- Lead platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, migrations, patching, and technology refresh initiatives.
n
- Ensure platform availability, performance, scalability, reliability, and operational stability.
n
- Perform capacity planning,



optimisation, and continuous improvement activities.
n
- Provide Level 3 support for complex application delivery and load balancing incidents.
n
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical platform, networking, and security-related issues.
n
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
n
- Participate in major incident management and service restoration activities.
n
- Contribute to architecture reviews, solution design workshops, and technical governance processes.
n
- Review and validate technical designs against operational, security, and architectural standards.
n
- Lead F5 implementation activities across multiple projects and technology initiatives.
n
- Develop implementation plans, testing strategies, rollback procedures, and deployment documentation.
n
- Support application onboarding, release management, and production deployment activities.
n
- Implement and maintain F5 Advanced WAF security controls and secure application delivery services.
n
- Support audit, compliance, vulnerability remediation, and security improvement initiatives.
n
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and support playbooks.
n
- Identify opportunities for automation, operational efficiency, and platform modernisation.
n

n

What You'll Need

n

n
- Minimum 8 years' experience across Network Security, Application Delivery, or Infrastructure Engineering environments.
n
- At least 5 years' hands‐on experience designing, implementing, and supporting F5 platforms.
n
- Strong expertise across F5 BIG-IP LTM (Local Traffic Manager) and F5 DNS/GTM technologies.
n
- Demonstrated experience with F5 Advanced WAF (ASM) and secure application delivery platforms.
n
- Strong understanding of SSL offloading, load balancing, traffic management, and application delivery networking.
n
- Experience developing and supporting F5 iRules and advanced traffic management configurations.
n
- Strong knowledge of high‐availability architectures, disaster recovery solutions, and business continuity practices.
n
- Expertise in certificate management, health monitoring, and application performance optimisation.
n
- Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, Routing & Switching, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, NAT, DNS, and DHCP.
n
- Experience working with Web Application Firewalls, SSL/TLS technologies, and network security architectures.
n
- Proven experience delivering F5 deployments, migrations, upgrades, and transformation projects.
n
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‐solving skills.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and customer‐facing capabilities.
n
- Experience supporting business‐critical production environments with stringent availability requirements.
n

Desirable Experience

- Experience working within Telecommunications environments.
n
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure and mission‐critical services.

- Knowledge of Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet,



or Cisco security platforms.
n
- Exposure to Azure and AWS networking and security services.
n
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation technologies.
n
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and platform engineering methodologies.
n
- Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and contemporary secure access principles.
n
- Experience integrating application delivery platforms with cloud-native environments.
n
- Exposure to enterprise security frameworks, compliance requirements, and governance controls.

Qualifications & Certifications

n

n
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
n
- F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA), F5 Certified Technical Specialist (F5-CTS), or F5 Certified Solution Expert (F5-CSE) highly regarded.
n
- CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security certifications desirable.
n
- CISSP certification advantageous.
n
- Azure Network Engineer Associate or equivalent cloud networking certifications highly regarded.
n
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale networking, security, and application delivery solutions.
n
- Strong architectural thinking, technical leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities.
n
