The Technical Team Lead is responsible for the technical leadership, sustainment and modernisation of critical intelligence systems within the Intelligence Service Line (ISL). The role leads a small team that provides planning, development, maintenance, guidance and modernisation of intelligence software applications and supporting components.

This role applies deep technical expertise to ensure applications remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose. Furthermore, this role has accountability for the ongoing sustainment of classified systems in a business as usual and project environment, including bespoke and commercial off the shelf solutions.

The Technical Team Lead works closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, delivery partners and vendors, leads and mentor staff, and is accountable for the quality, timeliness and outcomes of technical delivery within their area of responsibility.

Role Responsibilities

As a Technical Team Lead, you will:

- Provide technical leadership and authoritative advice on the sustainment and modernisation of complex intelligence systems, shaping technical direction and standards.
- Manage complexity and competing priorities to deliver work activities across production support, enhancements and upgrades, balancing delivery, risk, security and operational stability.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with business/technical areas, delivery partners and vendors, translating complex technical issues into clear options and recommendations.
- Apply critical thinking and deep technical analysis to diagnose system issues, manage risk, and design sustainable solutions in regulated, security sensitive environments




- Manage a small team of ICT professionals delivering quality ITIL service management to a number of specialist applications.

Desirable skills and experience:

- Solid experience with multitiered systems and databases including and not limited to Oracle and SQL Server based platform and enterprise web technologies, build tools and code deployment, installation and integration of software and system troubleshooting.
- As a team lead, experience in supporting and integrating bespoke and commercial off-the-shelf applications, including third-party vendor solutions.
- Experience contributing technical input to briefings, change submissions and governance papers to support senior decision-making.
- Familiarity with ITIL service management and delivery tooling such as ServiceNow, Azure DevOps or Jira.

Your Skills and Capabilities We invite applications from people with the following experience, skills and attributes:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Information Communication and Technology (ICT)
- Demonstrated experience in delivering within the ITIL service management framework, sustaining and enhancing enterprise systems in a controlled production environment, with accountability for operational stability and outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate end-to-end delivery and sustainment activities, including incident and problem resolution, defect remediation, testing, change control and production release.




- Strong technical experience with development of enterprise multitiered systems.
- Proven ability to support and integrate commercial, modified and bespoke applications, including third-party and government off-the-shelf products, within regulated and security-sensitive environments.
- Well developed management, stakeholder engagement, documentation and prioritisation skills, with the judgement to balance delivery, risk, compliance and system reliability in a complex intelligence setting.

- Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
