About the role

As the branch's licensed electrician, install, commission, fault-find and maintain the electrical side of customers' irrigation and pumping systems — pump motors, switchboards, control panels, variable speed drives, irrigation controllers and automation. Work as part of the wider service team to deliver Water Dynamics' service excellence promise: on time, on safety and on quality. Irrigation is a niche — we will teach you the water; you bring the electrical trade.

Key responsibilities

- Electrical installation: Install and connect pump motors, motor control centres, switchboards, soft starters and variable speed drives (VSDs) for irrigation and water supply systems on farms, commercial sites and in the workshop.
- Commissioning: Commission pump stations, pivot control panels and irrigation controllers; set up VSD parameters, protection settings and pressure/flow control; complete Certificates of Compliance for all notifiable work.
- Fault-finding & repair: Diagnose and rectify electrical faults on pumps, motors, control circuits, pivot end-tower and centre panels, and telemetry/automation equipment — on site and in the workshop.
- Preventative maintenance: Deliver scheduled electrical inspections, thermal and insulation checks, motor and switchboard servicing, and test-and-tag to program.
- Automation & controls: Install and configure irrigation controllers, remote monitoring, level/pressure sensors and basic PLC/telemetry systems; support customers to get the most from them.
- Field service: Mobile in office service across the Limestone Coast and western Victoria, including emergency call-outs on the on-call rotation during peak season.
- Team support: Work alongside mechanical technicians on pump and pivot installs; provide the electrical expertise the wider team can lean on.
- Customer service:



Communicate clearly with customers on site; explain what was done and why; leave the customer better than you found them.
- ServiceM8 & compliance paperwork: Accurate use of mobile job software; correct time, parts and travel recording; test results, Certificates of Compliance and clean job sign-offs every time.
- Health, safety & wellbeing: Zero Harm. Safe isolation and lock-out/tag-out, SWMS compliance, daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, correct PPE — every job, every time.

About you

- Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) or equivalent trade qualification.
- Current South Australian Electrical Worker's Licence (or eligibility to obtain one on commencement).
- Demonstrated experience in industrial, rural or commercial electrical work — motors, switchboards and control circuits.
- Sound fault-finding ability and a methodical, safety-first approach to live and de-energised work.
- Unrestricted car licence; White Card; right to work in Australia.
- Customer-first attitude; team-oriented; willing to travel and stay away occasionally.

- Highly regarded
- Experience with pumps, irrigation or rural/agricultural service work.
- Familiarity with VSDs, soft starters and motor protection (Danfoss, ABB, Schneider or similar).
- Exposure to centre pivot systems, irrigation controllers or telemetry/SCADA.
- Test & tag, Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP/Forklift tickets.
