A Grade Electrician – Switchboard Manufacturing

$95,000–$110,000 per annum plus superannuation

About Current Industries

Current Industries is a well-established electrical switchboard manufacturing company located in Hallam, Melbourne.

We manufacture low-voltage switchboards and electrical distribution products for commercial and industrial projects. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and experienced A Grade electrician to join our team.

About the position

This is a full-time, permanent and predominantly in-house position based at our Hallam factory.

The successful applicant will be responsible for building, wiring, inspecting and testing low-voltage electrical switchboards and associated distribution products.

This is not a domestic installation, construction-site or travelling service role. Almost all work is completed inside our factory, with only occasional deliveries or site visits required.

The position would suit an experienced electrician looking for consistent hours, a stable work location and the opportunity to apply their electrical knowledge in a specialised manufacturing environment.

An immediate start is available.

Working hours





- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am–2:30pm

Key responsibilities

Your duties will include

- Building low-voltage switchboards and electrical distribution products
- Wiring, inspecting and testing completed switchboards
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and single-line diagrams
- Installing switchgear, metering equipment and control components
- Completing control wiring and cabling
- Fabricating and installing copper busbars
- Identifying and resolving electrical or manufacturing issues
- Using hand tools and power tools safely and competently
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Working with the production team to meet quality and delivery requirements
- Assisting with occasional deliveries or site visits when required

Essential skills and qualifications To be successful in this position, you will need:

- A current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or an Australian-recognised equivalent
- The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and single-line diagrams
- Sound knowledge of Australian electrical standards and safe working practices
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- Good practical skills and confidence using hand and power tools
- A strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team




- The ability to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality
- Full legal working rights in Australia
- A current driver’s licence

Highly regarded experience The following experience will be highly regarded:

- Low-voltage switchboard manufacturing
- Electrical fitting or similar electrical manufacturing work
- Copper busbar fabrication and installation
- Control wiring and cabling
- Power distribution systems
- Switchgear and metering equipment
- Testing completed switchboards
- Victorian service and installation rules
- Supply authority requirements and relevant Australian Standards

Applicants with strong electrical experience who are new to switchboard manufacturing may also be considered, provided they hold a current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence and have suitable practical skills.
