About the role

Best Life Disability Services PTY LTD is seeking a dedicated Employment Support Officer to join our team on a casual basis. This is an important role within our Disability Support services, based in Virginia, SA 5120. As an Employment Support Officer, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities to develop employment skills, secure meaningful work opportunities, and achieve greater independence and social inclusion.

This position is fundamental to our mission of empowering people with disabilities to participate actively in their communities and the workforce.

Key responsibilities

1. Provide individualised employment support and guidance to clients with disabilities, assisting them in identifying their skills, strengths and employment goals
2. Develop and implement personalised employment plans tailored to each client's capabilities, aspirations and support needs
3. Conduct job searches and identify suitable employment opportunities that align with clients' abilities and interests
4. Prepare clients for employment through skills training, interview coaching and workplace readiness support
5. Liaise with employers to advocate for clients, negotiate workplace adjustments and facilitate successful job placements
6. Provide ongoing workplace support and mentoring to help clients maintain employment and progress in their roles
7. Monitor client progress towards employment goals and adjust support strategies as required
8. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of client interactions, progress and outcomes
9. Collaborate with colleagues, other service providers and community organisations to support holistic client outcomes

What we're looking for

1.



Genuine passion and commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their employment goals and aspirations
2. Relevant qualifications in disability services, social work, employment services, counselling or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
3. Strong understanding of disability support frameworks, employment legislation and workplace rights
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse client groups
5. Demonstrated experience in employment support, job coaching, case management or similar client-focused roles
6. Strong organisational and administrative skills with proficiency in record-keeping and reporting
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment
8. Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
9. A valid Working with Children Check and relevant background screening clearances
10. Current driver's licence and reliable access to transport, as the role may require travel to client locations
11. Flexibility to work casual hours, including potential early mornings, late afternoons or weekend shifts as required
12. Lived experience of disability, mental health or other relevant challenges is valued but not essential
