The Opportunity The Energy Product Tariff Integrity Lead role is a senior, scarce-skill specialist position with accountability for protecting the integrity of energy pricing, tariff assignment, product configuration outcomes across the customer base. The role carries material customer, financial, regulatory and reputational risk accountability and requires deep Australian energy market expertise, advanced data analysis capability, Velocity platform knowledge and the ability to lead cross-functional remediation and governance activity across business, technology, operations, vendors and compliance stakeholders.

This role requires a highly experienced Energy Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive knowledge of energy retail pricing, tariff structures, billing systems, product configuration, MSATS, and data analysis. The position will play a critical role in supporting tariff and product maintenance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of customer pricing, billing outcomes, and product configurations across the energy platform.

The successful candidate will lead ongoing governance of tariff, pricing, and product configuration. They will be responsible for ensuring customers are correctly aligned to applicable network and retail tariffs, where desirable, identifying and resolving configuration anomalies, and supporting the design and implementation of new tariff and product structures to meet regulatory, commercial, and operational requirements.

This role requires a strong combination of analytical capability, technical system expertise, and detailed energy market and tariff compliance knowledge. The individual will work closely with business stakeholders, platform vendors, pricing teams, billing specialists, and regulatory subject matter experts to deliver complex initiatives as and when required while improving operational efficiency, product/tariff related compliance billing accuracy, and customer outcomes.

What you'll be responsible for

Tariff and Pricing Remediation

- Lead the development of a continual review process of tariff, pricing, and product configurations to identify inconsistencies, defects, and customer impacts.
- Conduct detailed NTC-to-Register mapping audits regularly and coordinate remediation activities if required to ensure alignment between network tariffs, meter configurations, and retail pricing structures.
- Investigate and resolve tariff assignment issues affecting customer billing accuracy and compliance outcomes.
- Identify customers impacted by tariff or product configuration discrepancies and coordinate corrective migration activities cross-functionally across service, 1:1 marketing, billing, etc.
- Quantify and assess customer and financial impacts arising from tariff, product or billing configuration defects.
- Provide evidence and analysis to support executive decision-making on customer remediation, product changes and regulatory risk treatment.

Product and Tariff Configuration
- Configure, maintain, and optimise retail energy products, tariffs, and pricing plans within the billing and product management platforms.
- Review, configure, and maintain Market Energy Standing Offers in accordance with regulatory and business requirements.
- Lead the implementation and rollout of Residential Demand Tariffs, including tariff configuration, testing, validation, and customer migration activities.
- Configure and launch new energy products and offerings, including initiatives such as Real Deal Solar Soak and Real Deal Solar Sharer.
- Support future product and tariff design initiatives by providing subject matter expertise and configuration guidance.

Customer Migration and Billing Integrity
- Manage customer migrations between pricing structures, including CPG and DPG price plans, ensuring accurate tariff assignment and billing continuity.
- Validate billing outcomes associated with tariff changes, product migrations, and remediation activities.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies arising from product, tariff, metering, or system configuration issues.




- Ensure customer accounts are aligned with the correct network, retail, and regulatory pricing arrangements.
- Develop and own controls that reduce risk of incorrect tariff assignment and regulatory non-compliance

Pricing, Tariff and Billing Controls Governance
- Design, implement and maintain the governance framework for energy tariff, pricing, product and billing configuration controls.
- Establish preventative and detective controls to identify tariff misalignment, billing defects, product configuration errors and customer impact risks.
- Define control standards, validation routines, audit evidence, decision records and remediation governance for pricing and billing changes.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Technology and Operations to ensure controls meet regulatory, customer and commercial requirements.

Data Analysis and Investigation
- Interrogate and analyse MSATS and other market data sources to validate customer configurations and network tariff assignments on an ongoing basis
- Conduct root cause analysis for complex pricing, billing, and product configuration issues identified through implemented issues identification process.
- Develop data-driven recommendations to improve system accuracy, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement and Delivery
- Lead collaboratively with business stakeholders, platform vendors, pricing teams, regulatory specialists, and operational teams to deliver remediation and enhancement initiatives.
- Translate business, regulatory, and market requirements into system configuration and implementation activities.
- Provide subject matter expertise during solution design, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support activities.
- Lead governance, reporting, and risk management activities associated with tariff remediation and product configuration programs.
- Prepare executive-level updates on material tariff, billing and remediation risks.
- Provide recommendations to senior leaders on remediation approach, prioritisation, customer treatment and risk acceptance.
- Influence cross-functional prioritisation where remediation, product, technology and regulatory priorities compete.

What you'll bring to the role The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and technically capable energy professional who combines deep industry knowledge with strong system and data expertise. They are comfortable navigating complex billing, pricing, tariff, and product environments and possess the ability to investigate ambiguous issues, identify root causes, and implement practical, sustainable solutions.

They will demonstrate a strong understanding of the end-to-end relationship between market data, tariff structures, product configuration, customer billing outcomes, and regulatory obligations.

They will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of independently driving investigations and remediation activities while effectively engaging stakeholders across business, technology, operations, and vendor teams.

The successful candidate will be adaptable and capable of responding to emerging findings and new workstreams – and flex accordingly with scale and complexity.

They will play a key role in improving data quality, billing accuracy, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and overall customer outcomes across the organisation. Proactivity is fundamental with the candidate being a self-starter and able to lead through ambiguity, and bring cross-functional people together constructively to deliver outcomes.

- 15+ years - Extensive experience within the Australian energy retail sector, with a deep understanding of retail and network tariff structures, pricing methodologies, and market processes.
- Deep practical experience with complex tariff, billing and product configuration environments
- Solid knowledge of energy billing systems, tariff configuration, product management, and pricing implementation.
- Proven experience configuring and maintaining tariffs, products,



and billing rules within the Velocity platform.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex remediation initiatives with customer, financial, and regulatory impact
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes without direct authority
- Advanced data analysis and data interrogation capabilities, including experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong understanding of MSATS data structures, NMI standing data, NTC -to-register mapping, network tariff assignment, retail tariff construction, market/standing offers, demand tariffs, TOU and controlled load tariffs, metering configurations, and market registration processes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory pricing and billing obligations
- Demonstrated experience delivering tariff remediation, billing correction, or pricing transformation initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform detailed root cause analysis across multiple systems and data sources.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across both technical and business teams.
- Experience working with third-party platform vendors to investigate, design, and implement complex configuration changes and remediation activities. Gentrack Velocity experience highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
