Make the move, Make a difference The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services. Our staff are a part of the community we serve, and we strongly believe that health outcomes are enhanced by involving our community in the planning and evaluation of local health services.
SACU is a 48-bed off site unit, classified as a ward of the hospital, in a residential like setting for adults and older persons. We promote rehabilitation, restorative care and recovery towards discharge home or to other discharge options. We provide targeted multidisciplinary care aimed at providing optimisation of the patients functioning and quality of life, with a rehabilitation and gerontic focus. We also provide dedicated dementia and delirium care to patients with specialised needs.
About your role
- Responsibility for planning and delivery of service to an allocated patient load.
- Routine patient cares including assistance with activities of daily living.
- Implementation of risk management and care plans.
- Routine and complex medication management and administration.
- Complex wound care.
- Phlebotomy, cannulation and IV management.
