We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Yarra Valley Water Reliability Program, supporting the delivery of water and sewer infrastructure renewal projects across Melbourne.
This is a delivery-focused estimating role, with opportunities to participate in site investigations, constructability and methodology reviews, and project handovers. A key focus will be comparing estimated versus actual project performance to continually improve our rates, productivity assumptions and estimating accuracy across the program.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing project scopes and drawings
- Completing quantity take-offs and cost build-ups
- Obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Assessing construction methodologies and project risks
- Preparing estimates for review and approval
- Working closely with Project Engineers, Supervisors and Project Managers
- Participating in site investigations and constructability reviews to ensure estimates reflect real delivery conditions.
- Reviewing estimated versus actual project costs and productivity to continually improve estimating rates, benchmarks and accuracy
To be successful you will have:
- A relevant construction-related degree (Eg Engineering, QS or Construction-based), however demonstrated estimating and/or civil construction experience will be acceptable
- Previous estimating experience within civil construction, utilities, water infrastructure or a similar project environment
- Sound understanding of civil construction methodologies, productivity and key cost drivers
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Experience using Expert Estimation or similar estimating software (desirable)
- Strong analytical and commercial capability, with robust attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtain
- Water and sewer infrastructure experience (highly desirable), with experience in lump sum estimating and schedule of rates pricing also advantageous
