Company Description Slabtec Pty Ltd specialises in structural strengthening, remediation, and repair of concrete structures across building and civil infrastructure sectors throughout Australia. With hundreds of successful carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) projects completed, the company is recognised as a specialist in complex strengthening and remedial works. Slabtec’s capabilities include CFRP strengthening, concrete repair, structural investigation, non-destructive testing, and specialist engineering solutions for existing structures.
Our experienced team combines structural engineering expertise with practical construction skills to deliver solutions that meet specific structural, access, program, and operational requirements. The company works collaboratively with engineers, asset owners, contractors, and other stakeholders on projects ranging from localised defect repair to major buildings and bridges, earning the trust of clients on some of Australia’s most technically challenging structures.
Role Description We are looking for an Estimator with a Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Contracts Administration background to join our estimating team. You will work directly alongside our Estimating Manager, building genuine technical capability in pricing specialist structural strengthening and repair works.
This will be a primarily office-based role, with time out visiting sites to understand scope, access constraints, and existing structural conditions firsthand — experience that directly informs how we price the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for new tender submissions and contract variations, across carbon fibre strengthening, crack injection, and concrete remediation scopes.
- Interpret structural drawings, specifications,
and scope documentations (including design-led repair methodologies) to build take-offs and pricing strategies.
- Attend site visits to assess existing conditions, access and scope as part of pricing process.
- Work with our procurement manager and liaise directly with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and validate quotes, inclusions and exclusions.
- Track and manager tender/quote status, follow-ups, and negotiation outcomes through our CRM.
- Support the Estimating Manager on more complex and higher-value submissions.
- Assist with building out pricing templates, rate libraries and estimating processes as part of continual professional development.
About you
- Strong Excel skills, comfort learning recent software and CRM systems.
- Confident reading drawings and specifications with a clear attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication to liaise directly with subcontractors, suppliers and internal Commercial and Operations teams at handover meetings.
- Genuine interest in structural engineering, remediation strategies, or specialist construction methods.
- Must hold a valid drivers license for site visits.
- Comfortable on active construction sites perferably with a white card or a willingness to obtain.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar - or equivalent Contracts Administrator / Quantity Surveying / Estimating experience.
- Ideally some industry experience or time spent in Construction office environments and on site.
What We Offer
- Working directly with our experienced Estimating Manager with genuine career progression opportunities as part of Slabtec in the DYWIDAG group.
- Exposure to technically interesting, design-led structural strengthening work rather than repetitive standard construction pricing.
- Supportive, close-knit Commercial and Operations team.
- Salary negotiable based on experience.
