Primary objective
Provide high level administrative and secretarial support to the Crown Managing Prosecutors in Darwin to facilitate the efficient and effective operation of the Office.
Context statement The DPP operates independently within the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice.
Key duties and responsibilities
1.
Provide an efficient coordination and management service of the day to day activities of the two Crown Managing Prosecutors (the
Managers) including managing emails, calls, coordinating travel arrangements, organising briefing material and other requests efficiently and to a high standard to enable them to focus on their core business functions.
1. Contribute to building solid relationships and networks with other managers and staff in the Office, and DPP’s regional offices, as
well as with key external stakeholders
1. Coordinate and schedule meetings, including preparing agendas, liaising with stakeholders for attendance and taking minutes, and
coordinate out-of-session briefings and related matters.
1. Maintain appropriate records management systems to ensure the integrity of data and to support the efficient retrieval of information.
2. Assist with the rostering of staff and allocation of work under the direction of the Managers.
3. Undertake basic research tasks to help inform the preparation of draft correspondence, and reports, spreadsheets and PowerPoint
presentations, or gather and collate research to provide background information to support informed, evidenced based decision making and future planning.
1. Manage a range of concurrent activities in a timely and efficient manner, with minimum supervision, ensuring that deadlines are
adhered to.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound interpersonal skills together with good oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with the
public, peers and other agency officers, displaying sensitivity and cultural awareness.
- Sound organisational skills and high level of self-management, including a proven ability to determine workload priorities, work under pressure, use initiative and meet stringent deadlines without close supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and proactively problem solve, as well as sound qualified judgement, common sense,
integrity and discretion,
- Demonstrated high level competency in a range of systems and applications such as Microsoft suite products and electronic records system and IT meeting tools.
- Knowledge of the role and responsibility of the NT Director of Public Prosecutions and the wider criminal justice process, including appeals, or the ability to quickly acquire this.

Desirable
1. Relevant study or qualifications in legal or administrative/secretarial areas.
