Shift Times: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm initially, increasing to 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm once rapport has been established.
- Must have experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, including verbal aggression and challenging behaviours.
- Must be confident and experienced with cooking and meal preparation.
About the role In this role, you will provide one-on-one support to a participant with complex support needs. The participant may display complex behaviours, including verbal aggression, so experience in managing challenging situations in a calm, skilled and supportive manner is essential. Your role will focus on supporting the participant to build independence and engage more actively in the community. This will include assisting and encouraging the participant to get out of the house, participate in social and recreational activities, attend appointments, and complete shopping and other community-based activities.
You will also assist with daily living tasks, including meal planning and preparation, cooking, grocery shopping, and medication prompting where required.
We are looking for someone who is patient, confident and reliable, with previous experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours and verbal aggression. The successful support worker must also be confident in the kitchen and able to prepare appropriate meals.
