Primary objective
This position is responsible for provision of quality business support to internal and external clients including managing prisoner private monies and associated financial management duties for Correctional Centre Work Camps.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Process prisoner private monies transactions including receipting monies in Pronto, processing payments, prisoner mail charges,
fines and transactions in IOMS,
and undertaking data entry in the accounting systems inclusive of the prisoner telephone system (PTS).
1. Respond as the first point of contact to incoming phone enquiries relating to general internal/external stakeholders.
2. Process and payment of authorised invoices in a timely manner through the NTG Pay System or the Expense 8 (credit card
system) ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and agency policies and procedures.
- Monitor and ensure accounts are paid on time and resolve supplier queries as well as account disputes.
- Handle a range of enquiries, face to face, telephone or electronic from internal and external stakeholders and provide explicit,
timely, practical information and guidance in accordance with relevant NT Government Legislation and Departmental Policies whilst maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
1. Contribute to the prisoner monies and finance unit and promote a high level of customer focussed service and other duties as
required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including knowledge and understanding of the NTG practices
and procedures or the ability to quickly obtain.
- Experience in cash management and handling including reconciliations,
financial management and revenue collection/reporting.
- Interpersonal skills of a high order, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, various groups and stakeholders both within the organisation and externally and interact with clients at all levels including Indigenous Australians as well as other culturally diverse groups.
1. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member and exercise initiative.
2. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a busy work environment across a broad range tasks with well-developed
organisational and prioritisation skills to meet demanding deadlines.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive information and maintain data accuracy and attention to detail.
- A high level of computing skills with proficiency in a range of relevant computer applications, including mainframe databases and MS Office applications.
Desirable
1. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with Government Accounting System (GAS) and Pronto system or similar.
