Canning Vale

The role is based in Canning Vale and supports a multi-site Australian and international operation.

About the Company

Our client is an established Australian-owned mining services business specialising in mine water management for surface and underground operations.

Operating across Australia and internationally, the company designs, manufactures, installs and maintains complete pumping and water management systems. Its capabilities span engineering, project delivery, workshop fabrication, equipment supply and field service.

With a strong reputation, deep technical expertise and a significant fleet of company-owned equipment, the business is entering its next phase of growth.

The environment is practical, supportive and fast-moving. Finance works closely with projects, operations, workshop and procurement, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys getting beyond the numbers and understanding how a business really operates.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, the Finance Manager will lead the day-to-day finance function and a four-person transactional team across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll.

This is a broad, hands-on role with responsibility across management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, project costing, inventory accounting, compliance and finance process improvement.

You will work closely with the CFO and operational leaders to strengthen financial controls, improve visibility of performance and provide the commercial insight needed to support continued growth.

The role will suit someone who is comfortable getting into the detail while also looking ahead, improving systems and reporting, developing the team and helping non-finance leaders better understand the financial drivers of their operations.

Key responsibilities include

- Leading and developing the transactional finance team

- Managing month-end, balance sheet reconciliations and the delivery of accurate and timely financial and management reporting
- Leading annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow forecasting and ongoing financial planning
- Preparing monthly management packs and clearly explaining key variances, trends, risks and operational drivers
- Producing weekly revenue and margin reporting and partnering with leaders to improve performance and profitability
- Maintaining product and project costing, including bills of materials, labour, freight and other cost inputs
- Overseeing inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliations, reporting and purchasing forecasts
- Supporting project managers with budgets, work-in-progress, forecasts and detailed cost variance reporting
- Coordinating BAS, FBT, income tax, payroll tax and year-end requirements

Importantly, this is not a role that operates at arm’s length from the business. The Finance Manager will build strong relationships across projects, workshop, service and operations, developing a genuine understanding of the commercial drivers behind revenue, margins, inventory and project performance.

About You

We are seeking a commercially minded Finance Manager who wants the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing business.

Ideally, you will bring

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, with CA or CPA qualification preferred
- Broad finance experience across management reporting, budgeting,

forecasting, cash flow, compliance and financial analysis
- Strong management accounting capability and the confidence to translate financial information into practical commercial insight
- Experience leading, supporting and developing transactional finance team members
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, construction, mining services or project-based environment
- An understanding of inventory, work-in-progress, project costing and bills of materials
- Strong ERP and advanced Excel capability, with experience improving systems, processes and reporting
- A hands-on and proactive approach, with the ability to balance detail, deadlines and continuous improvement

Experience within mining services, pumping, water management, heavy equipment, engineering services, fabrication or another asset and project-intensive environment will be highly regarded.

What’s on Offer

This is an opportunity to join an established Australian mining services business at an exciting point in its journey and take on a broad role with genuine visibility and influence.

You will work closely with the CFO, lead an established transactional team and help strengthen the reporting, controls, systems and commercial insight required to support the organisation’s continued growth.

A market-competitive salary package and short-term incentive is likely to be negotiated based on the experience and capability of the successful candidate.

The role is based in Canning Vale and supports the company’s broader Australian and international operations.
