Finance Manager

Melbourne Grammar School has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Finance Team in our South Yarra campus.

Reporting to the Director of Business & Finance, this senior position leads a team of six Finance staff and is responsible for ensuring the School’s financial processes, reporting and controls operate effectively and efficiently. The Finance Manager will combine hands-on technical expertise with solid people leadership, supporting the School to maintain robust financial management and deliver its educational objectives.

This is a full-time fixed-term contract commencing in December 2026 until August 2027.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the School's finance function by overseeing all day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management and financial reporting, ensuring strong internal controls, accuracy and service excellence across all Finance activities.
- Manage the School's financial planning and reporting framework, including the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, management accounts, statutory financial statements and cash flow reporting.
- Provide financial leadership and governance support to the School by preparing papers, agendas and minutes for the Finance & Audit and Investment Management Committees, while contributing financial advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
- Ensure the School meets all financial compliance obligations, including taxation requirements, government reporting and regulatory submissions, while proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks across the organisation.
