Accurate financial management helps Council deliver the services and infrastructure our community relies on every day. In this role, you support the Finance section by providing accurate financial information, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring Council meets its tax obligations. You also provide backup support to a peer Financial Accountant, which includes maintaining capability across investment reporting, grant accounting, statutory reporting and month-end processes to support business continuity when needed.
You manage Council’s Business Activity Statement obligations, including GST, FBT instalments and Fuel Tax Credits. You prepare and lodge the annual Fringe Benefits Tax return, ensure transactions are recorded with the correct GST treatment and complete regular reconciliations to keep financial records accurate and compliant.
Each week, you reconcile payroll superannuation payments to the general ledger and submit payments to superannuation funds. You complete balance sheet reconciliations, assist with annual financial statements and help improve financial reporting and business systems.
This role suits a collaborative and analytical finance professional with a degree in Accounting or a related field and experience in accounting, ideally within a large organisation.
