Primary objective To provide effective administrative support to the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES)

Firearms Policy and Recording Unit (FPRU).



This position will provides support to all areas within FPRU and provides customer service to members of the NTPFES as well as FPRU clients.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Day to day administration within the Firearms Policy and Recording Unit
2. Answering all phone enquiries and provide advice to callers or refer call to appropriate team member.
3. Responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail.
4. Providing administrative assistance to the Officer in Charge as required, including the recording and monitoring of

documents and files in the Territory Records Manager (TRM) system.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, database applications and the initiative to quickly learn Firearms

Policy and Recording unit office procedures, including records management.
- Developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with confidence to deal with employees at a range of levels.
- Ability to take directions, to work as part of a team and the ability to initiate and complete tasks unsupervised.
- Ability to work under pressure while keeping an easy rapport with managers, peers and clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work successfully as a team member.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the various computer systems utilised by the Northern

Territory Police.
