No experience needed. Full training provided. Loader ticket an advantage but not essential. Demeter Grains is a well established Western Australian grain export and trading company. This harvest we're opening three new bunker storage sites across the Great Southern and Wheatbelt, and we're building the crews to run them.
We're hiring Yard Hands and Site Operators for the 2026/27 harvest at Albany, Gnowangerup and Newdegate.
About the role
This is the job that gets the grain off the truck and into the stack. You'll be working outside with a small crew, unloading trucks at the receival point, running the loader and stacker to build the bunker, and getting tarps down and stacks covered so the grain comes out in the same condition it went in.
It's hands-on, physical work with a tight crew and a clear result at the end of the day. No two days are quite the same — the weather, the wind and how hard the growers are going all change what the day looks like.
What you'll be doing
- Unloading trucks at the receival point and keeping the grid moving
- Operating front-end loaders and stackers to build and shape bunker stacks
- Laying ground tarps, covering and sealing stacks
- Site hygiene: spillage, clean-up and keeping the site tidy
- Assisting with stack care, treatment and general site maintenance
- Helping the sampling crew at the gate when things get busy
- Out-loading trucks later in the season
What we're looking for
- Reliable, and happy to work outdoors in summer conditions
- A valuable team member who'll pitch in wherever the crew needs a hand
- Safety-minded — we work around heavy machinery and moving trucks
- Willing to learn; we'll train you on everything from tarping to the loader
- Current driver's licence

The details
- Season runs approximately; 2nd Half of October 2026 to end of January 2027
- 12 hour days, rostered across a 13 day fortnight through the peak
- Physical outdoor work in summer heat and dust
- Pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening may apply
- Starts as a casual role with an option of becoming permanent for the right person
