Hair Colourist — Axis Salon, Braddon

Axis Salon is Canberra’s premier salon for cut and colour. Established in 1991 and led by award-winning, internationally recognised hairdresser Adam Ciaccia, we deliver high-end colour and ongoing hair management in a contemporary 5-star environment at The Grounds, 142/5 Donaldson Street, Braddon.

We are looking for an experienced Hair Colourist who wants to do their best work — not rush through a book. If you are technically strong, client-focused, and serious about colour, this is a career role, not just a chair.

About the role

You will be a core part of the colour department, working with a diverse clientele who expect natural, wearable colour as well as more creative work. You will consult properly, recommend the right approach, and deliver consistent, salon-standard results.

You will:

- Consult with clients on colour goals, hair history, condition and maintenance
- Perform advanced colour services including foils, balayage, foilayage, ombré, glosses/toners, fashion colour, colour correction and lightening
- Recommend tailored colour plans and aftercare (including premium in-salon treatments)
- Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, hygiene and product knowledge
- Work collaboratively with stylists so cut and colour sit together as one result
- Contribute to team training, colour systems and a consistent salon standard
- Build and retain your own clientele through service, communication and follow-through

This role can be structured as full-time, part-time or contract/casual depending on the right person.

About you

- Qualified hairdresser with proven experience as a colourist or senior colourist in a professional salon




- Solid technical colour skills and a clear understanding of colour theory, formulation and hair condition
- Confident consultant — you can explain options, manage expectations and protect the hair
- Portfolio of recent colour work (Instagram or photos is fine)
- Reliable, well presented, and comfortable in a premium client-facing environment
- Team-minded: you lift the standard around you rather than working in isolation
- Australian work rights preferred. Strong international candidates may be considered where visa arrangements are possible

Brand education (L’Oréal, Matrix, Kérastase or equivalent) is highly regarded.
