Slater and Gordon Lawyers
Melbourne
Slater and Gordon Lawyers exists to get people the justice they deserve, often at the hardest moments of their lives: after injury, loss, or when power has been used against them. We're building a current Corporate Affairs function, and we're looking for a Head of Strategic Communications & Campaigns to help shape the narrative, content and campaigns that bring that purpose to life.
This is a senior, hands-on role reporting to the Chief Corporate Affairs Office. You’ll own strategic communications, integrated campaigns, executive and transformation communications and research, with an opportunity to lead our thinking on how AI reshapes content, audience insights and the way we tell stories. If you want to lead work that connects strategy, narrative and evidence, and help build a function rather than inherit one, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and implementation of Slater & Gordon’s Strategic Communications & Campaigns strategy, aligned with Corporate Affairs, organisational, reputation, advocacy and growth priorities
- Translate corporate strategy into integrated, evidence-led and audience-centred campaigns that deliver measurable reputation, influence, engagement, advocacy and business outcomes.
- Lead digital communications, owned content and multimedia storytelling, incorporating innovative, accessible and AI-enabled approaches and partnering with Marketing where priorities intersect.
- Develop and maintain the corporate narrative, including message architecture, proof points and audience-specific communications, ensuring consistency across all channels and stakeholder interactions.
- Lead strategic communications for major transformation and change initiatives, developing compelling narratives, leadership messaging and communication approaches that support understanding and alignment.
- Partner with the CCAO and CEO to develop executive thought leadership, including speeches, opinion pieces, presentations, articles, executive messages and digital content.
- Provide senior strategic communications advice to the CEO, ELT and business leaders, supporting clear,
credible and consistent communication of organisational priorities and change.
- Lead consumer, audience and stakeholder research and translate insights into campaign strategy, messaging, advocacy priorities and executive decision-making.
- Establish governance, planning, measurement and evaluation frameworks to assess campaign effectiveness and optimise communications, content and stakeholder outcomes.
- Lead and develop the Strategic Communications & Campaigns team, fostering a high-performing culture, allocating resources effectively and building strong cross-functional relationships.
Role Requirements
- Significant senior experience (10+ years) in strategic communications, corporate affairs, integrated campaigns or executive communications within complex organisations, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Proven ability to develop and activate corporate narratives, message architecture and high-impact executive communications.
- Strong experience leading multi-channel campaigns, digital content and multimedia storytelling, informed by audience research and stakeholder insights.
- Exceptional writing and editorial skills, including experience supporting CEOs and senior leaders with speeches, thought leadership and strategic communications.
- Strong strategic judgement, leadership and collaboration skills, with experience managing teams, agencies and cross-functional projects in complex stakeholder environments, underpinned by initiative, resilience, discretion and commercial awareness.
