Sundstrom Recruitment

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all company HSEQ objectives are achieved, and all employees and contractors are empowered and supported in matters related to health and safety. This opportunity is all about building rapport and engaging with the various trades in order to guide and assist them in making all the HSE information easily understandable and fit for purpose.

With a diverse range of opportunities across the civil, construction, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, we are currently partnering with leading organisations across WA to identify talented HSEQ professionals for a variety of career opportunities. These roles offer the chance to work across different operational environments, contribute to major projects and initiatives, and continue developing your HSEQ expertise. Whether you are looking to take the next step in your career, broaden your industry exposure or move into a new environment, we can connect you with opportunities that align with your experience, strengths and long-term career goals.

We understand that every HSEQ professional has different strengths, preferences and career aspirations. While some people thrive in an office-based setting, others prefer a more hands-on, “boots on the ground” approach working directly on site with operational teams. That’s why we take a genuinely consultative approach, taking the time to understand what you’re looking for and connecting you with opportunities that align with your experience, working style and long-term career goals.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and implement safety procedures and HSE management plans to minimise the risk of accidents in the workplace
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, and make recommendations to prevent similar occurrences in the future
- Provide hands-on training where required and coaching to the trades and labour workforce whilst supporting growth of HSEQ ownership across the business
- Design, develop and manage Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and companywide development of SWMS and JSA documents
- Report and present information to a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
- Keep updated with industry safety trends and standards, and make recommendations for continuous improvements
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments
- Facilitate inductions, toolbox talks and safety meetings

About you

- A minimum of Cert IV in Workplace Health & Safety
- Prior experience in a dedicated Health, Safety and Environment role
- A genuine passion for promoting a strong safety culture
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Cert IV in Training and Assessing (desirable)
- ICAM or Audit qualifications (desirable)
