About the Role

Southern Pacific Sands is a leading supplier of quality washed silica sand, bio-retention filtration media, soil products, and ready-mixed concrete, servicing Brisbane and Southeast Queensland.

We are currently seeking motivated Diesel Fitters/Mechanics to join our Maintenance Team, with immediate starts available.

We are recruiting for two roster options:

Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitter/Mechanic - Monday to Friday Roster

This position is ideally suited to a trade-qualified and experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitter/Mechanic who is looking for a stable Monday to Friday role.

Diesel Fitter/Mechanic - 99 Hour Fortnight Roster

This position is suitable for either a trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitter/Mechanic or a Light Vehicle Mechanic with a minimum of one year's post-trade experience looking to transition into the heavy vehicle industry.

In these hands-on roles, you will service, maintain, and carry out repairs on our fleet of Kenworth and Western Star Road trucks, as well as a variety of earthmoving equipment and fixed plant machinery. You will work alongside an experienced team in a supportive setting with opportunities to further develop your skills.

What We Offer

Roster Option 2 - 99 Hour Fortnight (HV or LV)

- 9-day fortnight (99 hours)

- Week 1: Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00am - 5:00pm

- Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 9:00am - 8:00pm

- 4 consecutive days off following the second week

Key Responsibilities

- Service, maintain, and carry out repairs on Kenworth and Western Star trucks.

- Perform preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis on heavy vehicles.

- Service and maintain a range of earthmoving equipment.

- Carry out repairs and maintenance on fixed plant equipment.

- Complete local on-site servicing and breakdown repairs as required.

- Maintain accurate service records and workshop documentation.

- Follow safe work procedures and contribute to a positive safety culture.

What We're Looking For

Trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitter/Mechanic.

- Trade-qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic with a minimum of 1 year's post-trade experience looking to transition into the heavy vehicle industry.

- Heavy Vehicle experience is preferred for the Monday to Friday position.

- Current Australian driver's licence (manual).

- Ability to work effectively within a team.

- Takes pride in workmanship and attention to detail.

- Commitment to workplace health and safety.

- Forklift licence (desirable).

- Truck licence (desirable).

The successful applicants will join the Maintenance Team and report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor/Leading Hand.
