Our client is a privately owned avocado producer operating two established orchards in Western Australia’s South West. Focused on quality production and continual improvement, the business is looking to strengthen its technical capability across agronomy, irrigation and crop management.

This is an opportunity to apply your agronomic knowledge directly in the orchard and have a genuine influence on crop performance, quality and productivity.

The Role

Reporting to the Directors, you will take responsibility for agronomy and orchard operations across two avocado properties.

Your duties will include (but not be limited to):

- Develop and manage crop nutrition, sampling and testing programs
- Monitor crop performance and identify opportunities to improve yield and quality
- Plan irrigation programs and improve water-use efficiency
- Coordinate spraying, pruning, crop management and harvest programs
- Maintain quality assurance and crop monitoring systems
- Use production and cost data to guide orchard improvements
- Coordinate Leading Hands and seasonal staff to deliver orchard programs

About You A tertiary qualification in Agronomy or a closely related discipline is essential for this position. You will bring solid technical knowledge and practical experience applying agronomy within commercial horticulture, orchards or tree-crop production. You’ll be comfortable spending time in the orchard, assessing crop performance and turning technical information into practical decisions.

To be considered for the role, you must be able to address the following criteria:





- Tertiary qualification in Agronomy or a closely related discipline
- Strong agronomic knowledge across crop nutrition, sampling, testing and monitoring
- Commercial orchard, horticulture or permanent tree-crop experience
- Sound knowledge of irrigation systems, including automated controls
- Experience developing and implementing seasonal crop programs
- Ability to interpret crop and production information to guide decisions
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of orchard outcomes

Experience in avocado production will be highly regarded, along with orchard redevelopment experience and practical machinery knowledge.
