We are a busy family of five looking for a wonderful Household Manager to help our home run calmly and well. We are hoping to find someone who enjoys creating order out of a full house.
About us
Two parents in busy skilled jobs, three primary school aged children, and a much loved family dog. The house is full, the week moves quickly, and there is always something going on. We are warm, easygoing people.
About you
We would love to find someone who learns how our household works and then simply runs it. We are looking for someone reliable, organised and caring who can confidently hold the home front together and become a trusted part of our family's routine. You are the kind of person who notices what needs doing and just gets it done, and you enjoy cooking healthy meals. Most importantly, you are warm, fun, and keen to build a connection with our family.
About the role
You will be a Household Manager for a busy family of five, helping their home run calmly and well. You will learn how the household works and then run it, becoming a trusted part of the family's routine. The role involves managing the home front, with responsibilities that can grow into family logistics and light life admin as things settle.
Key responsibilities
- Morning routine and breakfast
- Cooking healthy family dinners and meal planning, with freedom to suggest things and build a repertoire of what the family loves
- Grocery ordering and keeping the pantry and fridges organised and well stocked
- Daily reset so the house feels calm and ordered
- Laundry including ironing, with everything put away where it belongs
- Keeping wardrobes, cupboards and storage in good order
- Staying a step ahead on supplies and everyday essentials
- Working to the family calendar and keeping it up to date
- Working through a rolling list of deeper jobs
- A quick note at the end of each shift with a short catch up each week
As things settle, the role can grow into more of the family logistics and light life admin, like bookings, forms, organising trades and helping get ahead of a busy stretch. How far it grows is really up to the right person. What this role is not:
- It is not childcare, and you would not be responsible for supervising the children.
- We have a lovely cleaner two mornings a week who looks after the deeper cleans.
The hours: 30 hours a week across five weekdays, as a split shift. Mornings 7:00 to 10:00 and evenings 4:00 to 7:00. It is a proper split shift, which suits some people beautifully and others not at all. If the shape almost works for you, please do get in touch, because there is some flexibility for an outstanding candidate.
What we offer:
- $35 per hour plus superannuation, permanent part-time
- A written household routine and daily checklists and can be provided if requested
What you will need:
- Experience in a similar household or family role, or highly transferable skills
- Confident, happy home cooking for a family
- Working with Vulnerable People card, a Police Check and current First Aid, or a willingness to get them
- Current driver's licence
- Australian working rights
- Two Lovely contactable referees
Getting in touch:
- Send us a short introduction and your CV, and tell us a little about your most relevant experience, what you most enjoy cooking for a family, and why this role and this shape of week appeals to you.
- Not mandatory, but we would also love a one to two minute video, just filmed on your phone, telling us why you would like this role. Nothing polished, nothing rehearsed. We would simply love to hear from you in your own words, and it may help your application stand out.
If that sounds like what you are after as well, we would love to hear from you.
