About the role The Housing & Administration Officer will be the primary point of contact for phone calls and community members visiting the office and assist with the day-to-day administration of the Broken Hill Local Aboriginal Land Council in accordance with policies and procedures determined by the Board and the Chief Executive Officer.

Key responsibilities

- Provide information, advice and assistance to tenants and applicants regarding their housing options
- Provide customer service to tenants and respond effectively and professionally to tenant issues
- Refer tenants and applicants to community and other government agencies where appropriate
- Assist the CEO with the management of the social housing program in accordance with the operational budget and relevant policies and procedures
- Manage rent, water usage and tenant sundry debt management, including timely, accurate, and effective recording of rent collection
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, managing records and receipts, and processing invoices
- Receipt and process all incoming payments including rental and water usage payments
- Perform customer service role of reception including administrative and office support activities for CEO and other staff
- Answer telephone in a professional manner, transfer calls efficiently, take accurate messages and relay messages promptly
- Operate standard office equipment, undertake word processing, spreadsheet and filing tasks

About you





- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
- Experience in administration, customer service, housing or a similar role.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
