About the role

As the Human Resources & Employee Relations Manager, you will lead with kindness at all times and work within a team focused frame work in collaboration with the Director of Corporate Services. You will act as a trusted advisor, working closely with Executive Managers and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver practical and contemporary people solutions that support a positive employee experience and the effective delivery of services across First Peoples’ Health and Wellbeing. This is a true generalist position, requiring someone who can confidently operate at both a strategic and operational level.

This position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Services and includes managing and supporting a small team.

The purpose of this role is to lead all HR and employee relations requirements and support managers in effectively managing and supporting their staff. The role will take a hands-on approach across all HR matters, while also supporting key HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

This includes the implementation and ongoing management of the full Employment Hero suite, including timesheets and rostering, as well as other systems that support mandatory employee training and record management. The role will also support continuous quality improvement (CQI) across HR policies, procedures and employment practices, ensuring they remain current and aligned with relevant legislative and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities





- Build trusted relationships with managers and the Senior Leadership Team, providing practical and strategic HR advice to support workforce planning, operational priorities and effective people leadership.
- Continuous quality improvements for all processes for HR through evaluating procedures and implementation of changes when required.
- Develop and review policies and procedures in line with organisational requirements and legislation.
- Manage and advise on complex employee and industrial relations matters, including managing mental health in the workplace, psychosocial legislation, performance management, workplace investigations, disciplinary processes and grievances.
- Provide advice and guidance on award interpretation, employment legislation, industrial instruments and workplace compliance requirements.
- Build leadership capability through coaching and guidance on people management, employee engagement, conflict resolution and contemporary employment practices.
- Support organisational change initiatives, including workforce changes, restructures and HR-related projects, ensuring change is managed effectively and in line with FPHW’s objectives and values.
- Support workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work processes in accordance with legislative requirements and FPHW policies and procedures.
- Provide operational HR support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment and onboarding, employment documentation, employee changes, record management.
- Promote culturally safe, respectful and inclusive HR practices across FPHW.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, systems and practices to meet organisational and workforce needs.
- Operate as a true HR generalist by providing both strategic advice and hands-on support across the employee lifecycle. This includes preparing employment documentation, maintaining accurate employee records, coordinating HR processes and completing operational HR activities to ensure a responsive and efficient People & Culture service

About you You will be a respectful, kind and an experienced HR qualified,



with strong generalist HR skill base and have the ability to confidently operate at both a strategic and operational level. You will be confident providing practical advice and support across employee relations, managing mental health in the work place, performance management, workplace change and general employment matters.

You will be passionate about working in the Aboriginal primary health care sector that includes trauma informed mental health care services and committed to contributing to a culturally safe, respectful and positive workplace.

Essential

- Human Resource Management Degree (or equivalent) or extensive work experience to support other qualifications in this area
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Human Resources, with strong experience in Employee Relations or Industrial Relations.
- Experience managing and supporting a team
- Strong knowledge of HR electronic software systems
- Outstanding skills using Microsoft Office and other platforms
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work, Modern Awards and HR best practice.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters, investigations and performance management processes and award interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work requirements, Modern Awards and HR best practice.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence leaders and provide practical HR advice.
- Experience supporting organisational change, HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and HR data interpretation skills.
- Workers’ compensation and injury management experience.

Desirable

- Master’s in human resource management
- Experience within Aboriginal organisations, healthcare or community services will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of Employment Hero
