Pilbara Kimberley University Centres (PKUC) is seeking a dynamic, passionate and community-minded Hub and Student Support Manager to join our Tom Price Study Hub.
This is a frontline role that plays a vital part in creating a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for students and visitors. You will support students in their study journey, assist with engagement activities, and organise the day‑to‑day operations of the Study Hub.

About PKUC The Pilbara Kimberley University Centre (PKUC) is a not for profit incorporated association that operates under the Australian Federal Government's Regional University Study Hubs (RUSH) Programme. PKUC provides access to quality, supported higher education for students in regional and remote Western Australia, addressing critical workforce shortages and educational equity barriers across the Pilbara and Kimberley Regions.
The PKUC operates study hubs in Karratha, Hedland, Onslow, Tom Price, Broome and Kununurra.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide a range of student service support including assisting students with selecting courses and planning their studies, providing career guidance, and support with university applications and enrolment processes to students in Tom Price, Paraburdoo and surrounding areas.
- Attend networking events, career expos and undertake student outreach to support the PKUC team and promote academic pathways and programs.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and relevant external PKUC stakeholders to understand local students’ needs and ensure targeted higher education services are provided.
- Coordinate, monitor and evaluate ongoing projects, programs and initiatives and report progress to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Research and evaluate potential new student support and program opportunities (including undertaking risk, and financial assessment) and assist in the development, preparation and submission of grants and program proposals.
- Prepare surveys and gather data from students, faculty, and stakeholders.
- Input and assess data collected from surveys to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.
- Oversee and support the efficient and smooth day to day operations of the Regional University Study Hub, including operational planning and timetabling of events, including a comprehensive understanding of the PKUC’s processes and operational frameworks. This includes administrative activities, overseeing RUSH maintenance, equipment, study space allocation, WHS responsibilities, planning as well as mentoring staff and students.

Working Conditions
- Role Type: Part-time (0.5 - 0.6 FTE), permanent
- Location: Tom Price
- Hours: rostered between 8:00am–5:00pm on agreed weekdays
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for events
- Some limited regional travel may be required
- 6 weeks Annual Leave (Pro rata)
Remuneration
- Salary: $118,500 (plus statutory superannuation) (pro rata)
- Annual Leave: 6 weeks (pro rata)
- Allowances (location & others commensurate to candidate) (pro rata)
About You Essential
- A Bachelor or higher degree in a related field is highly desirable.
- Experience working in academic support services or business development, preferably in a higher education setting.
- A warm, emotionally intelligent and caring person who is passionate about their regional community.
- Well organised and a self-starter.
- Great communicator, connector and collaborator with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- An individual who is dedicated,
passionate and enthusiastic about creating opportunities for regional and remote students.
- The agility and innovation to devise and execute plans and manage the day to day running of the study hub.
- Ability to manage staff, lead multiple projects and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 and willingness to learn new systems
- Understanding of the Pilbara context and ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Desirable
- Experience in student services, education, training or community engagement
- Knowledge of the higher education or vocational training sector
- Experience using CRM systems
