- Successful applicants must work full time on site for 3 months or until they understand the department’s ICT landscape, requirements and project objectives. Versatile working arrangements may be considered afterward, subject to approval per the Department’s operational needs and ICT Contractor Working from Home Guidelines. Contractors must be on-site in Sydney office at least 3 days per week. Remote work costs (eg travel, accommodation, utilities, equipment) are the contractor’s responsibility.

About the project Client, ABF and the Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) will deliver Kiosks Infrastructure Uplift Project which is a joint program of work to modernise the ICT rooms and network infrastructure at Sydney Airport. This will provide a secure, highly resilient, fit for purpose capability to support border operations and to provide additional capacity for the expansion of border clearance kiosks.

About the team The Technology Operations & Support Branch (TOSB) is responsible for the Department’s ICT infrastructure, platforms, networks and data centres. The branch requires suitably qualified Infrastructure Engineers with specialist capability to support complex infrastructure build, integration and assurance activities across classified and unclassified environments.

The Data Centre Infrastructure

Services team (DCIS) provide ICT design services to project managers as part of a program of works encompassing stakeholders such as the Departmental Emerging Ports Section, Property Division and Industry led initiatives.

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

The Data Centre Design Field Infrastructure Engineer role plans and builds core IT or digital systems. They design, build and maintain the systems and network infrastructure as required. Also design secure, reliable, and scalable network, cloud, or server environments.





The role requires a Data Centre Field Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background planning and building safe, high-power, and reliable facilities for computer servers and cloud networks.

Key duties and responsibilities The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

- Providing technical advice and guidance to project teams, business representatives;
- Identifying and implementing service improvements that enhance reliability, security, supportability, operational efficiency and user experience;
- Ensuring all projects are delivered in line with the Department’s timeframe;
- Working with Project Managers to define and schedule deliverables;
- Identifying risks, issues and opportunities for the business;
- Supervising and managing staffs;
- Maintaining project work flows as required;
- Leading and managing projects and technical activities;
- Providing strategic planning, mapping and modelling development;
- Coordinating and implementing infrastructure changes;
- Lead major incident responses and recovery activities;
- Troubleshooting of complex technical issues;
- Conducting and analysing root cause of critical incidents;
- Scheduling and managing tasks;
- Review and approve technical change activities.

Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices. The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:
- Oversee rack allocation;
- Power utilisation,
- Cabling standards
- Infrastructure architecture and operational design;
- Technical standards and operational procedures;
- Infrastructure roadmaps and lifecycle plan.

All deliverables performed by the specified personnel must:
1. be performed or delivered promptly and without delay in accordance with the timeframes notified by the buyer from time to time; and
2.



meet the assessment and performance criteria set out in any monitoring and performance assessment processes notified to the seller from time to time.

Technical skills Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

· ITIL Foundation or higher;

· Microsoft certifications;

· Cisco certifications;

· Data centre facilities;

· ICT infrastructure;

· Technical writing and drafting i.e. AutoCAD and Visio.

Essential criteria

- Availability management level 4: Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Contributes to the availability management process and its operation;
- IT infrastructure level 4: Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures;
- Problem management level 3: Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures;
- Programming/software development level 2: Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors simple programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result;
- Systems design level 4: Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology;
- Systems installation and removal level 4: Undertakes or supervises complex installations and de-installations of systems or components, including handover to the client. Schedules installation work around client priorities and resource availability. Ensures adherence to established safety and quality procedures.

Desirable criteria

- Demonstrated experience in coordinating resources and accurate recording of effort;
- Demonstrated experience in producing technical documentation and data centre management or ICT infrastructure support;
- Proven ability to work within a structured ICT and project management governance framework and deliver results that adhere to organisational standards and policies;
- Experience with design and delivery of ICT infrastructure projects, data centre and equivalent spaces.
